About Citizen Voice

Citizen Voice was built on a simple idea: most people want to be involved in their local government and their local community, but the tools for doing that are scattered, confusing, or locked behind logins and paperwork. Finding out who represents you, understanding what a proposed law actually does, or even just asking your neighbors for help with something shouldn't require more effort than the task itself. This site tries to lower that barrier as much as possible.

What you can do here

Find your representatives. Enter your address and see who represents you at every level of government, from your city council up to Congress, along with how to contact them directly.

Follow and shape legislation. The Billboard tracks proposals moving through the system in plain language, and Build-a-Bill lets any resident draft and submit their own proposal for the community to read, discuss, and vote to support.

Sign and start petitions. Petitions here are tied to real, specific local issues, not generic templates — each one is reviewed before it's allowed to collect signatures.

Talk to your community. Community Chat gives every neighborhood, city, and county its own space for text discussion and live voice conversation, so organizing doesn't have to happen in someone else's app.

Help each other out. The Community Job Board lets neighbors post small paid tasks — moving help, yard work, odd jobs — and lets anyone browse what's needed nearby.

Learn how it all works. The Civic Academy walks through how local government actually functions, in short video lessons anyone can follow regardless of how much they already know.

Why anonymous by default

Most of Citizen Voice doesn't require creating an account. You get a private identity automatically, and you choose a display name the first time you post something — no email, no password, no waiting. We built it this way because requiring sign-up is one of the biggest reasons people give up on civic tools before they ever use them. Anonymity isn't a loophole here; it's the starting point.

How it's kept safe

Every proposal, petition, and community job post goes through moderation before it's visible to others. Automated systems catch spam and abusive posting patterns, and anyone can report a specific post directly to a human moderator with the report button attached to it. We'd rather move a little slower than let the platform become useless because of bad actors.
